With a new vision for the empire, Suleyman orders a major execution as one of his first commands. Alexandra and Mahidevran cross each other. The Ottomans receive bad news from Syria and the Vatican soon gets involved. Suleyman is upset about about the previous evening. Suleyman mixes up the strategy on Rhodes. Alexandra is taught a lesson by the sultan after Suleyman's affections grow larger for her. Mahidevran and Gulash develop a concerning idea. Hurrem dissaproves of Ibrahim's behavior who shares private information with Hatice.
Suleyman gets an unwanted package from Hungary and must change his campaign style. Hurrem can't find something important. Hurrem is in critical condition following an incident and the harem tries to minimize and ignore the the significance. Suleyman gears up for the campaign. Mahidevran comes to terms with severe consequences. The valide sultan continues to show dislike for Hurrem who continues to butt heads with Ibrahim.
Suleyman traveled away for his campaign and the valide sultan devises a scheme to drive off Hurrem, but she has a different plan. Hurrem's discovery puts her in an even more dangerous situation. The sultan is celebrated at a small homecoming and Suleyman's cold behavior to Mahidevran leaves her to finally put an end to Hurrem. The palace is rocked by a poison incident. Suleyman has a lead for the culprit but Hurrem is causing him to second guess himself. Suleyman prepares for Rhodes.
Lala Pasha and Suleyman discuss the valide sultan's promise. Maria, now Gulnihal, is used by Ibrahim to get back at Hurrem. Hurrem's tempers worsens when she learns more about the night during her labor and becomes paranoid over her young son. The viziers become skeptical about Lala Pasha leaving. Hurrem gives Gulnihal a harsh reality and Ibrahim's plan is off to a good start. Gulnial receives a package from Hurrem. The valide sultan decides to stop Hurrem but faces something far more serious.

Ibrahim causes elebi Mehmet's secret to get out. Hurrem's becomes uneasy when Suleyman attends to Mustafa. Sadika slowly gets closer to Suleyman. He is sitting on the throne of Layosh in Budin Palace. Hungarian territory is henceforth under the auspices of the Ottoman Empire. He wants to see what the beautiful Princess, who is the fiancee of Prince Frederick from the Habsburg Dynasty, will bring to the Ottoman Empire.

I don't think Brosnan nearing 60 is a problem. Thomas Crowne isn't James Bond, he doesn't run around firing a gun and taking out bad guys, age won't be an issue. If the storyline is right, an aging character might be interesting. I think Brosnan aged better from than he did from
